Don’t Be Afraid!

I have A Surprise For You

Happy Holidays!

I hope you are enjoying some time of relaxation and rest this holiday season.

I’ve been reading in Luke during the Advent season. This week I meditated on the angel’s exhortation to Mary in chapter one, verse 29 in the Message bible:

” Mary, you have nothing to fear, God has a surprise for you…”

I find myself a little fearful lately. For most of the year I’ve been working on a course to help therapists who want to start their own practice. The Cash Practice From Scratch course launches in 10 days. The closer the deadline the greater my fear of the unknown.I’m way out of my comfort zone. I’m doing something that I’ve never done before because I believe it will make a difference in people’s lives. Technology is always a challenge. I’m anxious to see if there will be any major glitches within the course.

I like surprises as much as anyone. But I don’t like surprises when I’m fearful.

The angel’s words to Mary seemed to be speaking directly to me.

“Paul, you have nothing to fear, God has a surprise for you…”

When I find myself fretting about the course or if the fear of failure gets the best of me, I try to repeat this verse over and over to quiet my soul. How about you?

Can you trust that God might have a surprise for you?

Even when you are fearful?

The story of Christmas is full of unexplainable surprises. Perhaps God is reaching into our world, our fears, to do a miracle once again.

Believe In Miracles,

Paul Potter
