If you are like most of my readers, you love what you do and you’re good at it. You are committed to your patients and your profession.
You strive to improve your clinical skills to help people get better. You want to make a difference in the world but something is missing.
Maybe you can’t put your finger on it. You know that you are treating more patients every day. Some days you feel like your job is data entry as you sit for hours in front of a computer screen. You know the economics of healthcare have dramatically changed but feel powerless to influence the cost of the care you provide.
Do you feel like work is changing faster than you can keep up?
Do you feel like you’re not able to give the best care to your patients?
Do you feel unappreciated or under valued?
You’re not alone, most therapists have felt the same one time or another. Many therapists I talk to are doing their best to just stay in the game.
Been There–Done That
I’ve been in the business of physical therapy for over thirty years. I’m an old dog still learning new tricks. Like most therapists, I like to help people. Not sell myself, pitch my programs, or sit in waiting rooms in exchange for a few minutes of a doctor’s precious time. I know what it feels like to start a therapy practice from scratch and gradually build it into a rewarding business.
I’ve experienced starting over after a life threatening diagnosis. I’ve felt the stress of a packed schedule and a clinic that resembles a ghost town. I like to help others avoid the pitfalls of working for themselves so they can build a meaningful practice and life.
Therapists are at their best when they spend the majority of their day working with patients they are meant to serve. I know it sounds simplistic. I’m aware that therapists spend a lot of time doing stuff they are required to do. In these turbulent times of healthcare reform you probably feel pressure to treat more patients and do even more stuff.
I believe in the power of therapists and small business to change healthcare, society and more importantly patient’s health. I believe therapists should lessen their dependency on physician referrals and the fee for service model.
So how do therapists stay true to their calling and do their best work? That’s what this website is about. It’s my take on how therapists can revitalize their love for their craft and not allow large corporations to steal their dreams. It’s about facing reality head on by connecting directly to the needs and desires of new healthcare consumers.
I want to inspire you. I hope to create a sense of urgency in you so that you to make your practice relevant and competitive through cash-based services. On this page you will find resources to help you fulfill your calling and create the practice of your dreams.
